6 Facts about the Caribbean.
Does the Caribbean Sea "whistle"? Are there African trees? And a boiling lake? These and other curious facts about some of the most beautiful areas of the planet.
African trees (baobabs).
There is only place in the Caribbean where this species of native tree of Africa known as baobabs grows, this place is the island of Barbados, one of the smallest countries in the world with only 34 kilometers long and 23 wide.
A different beach for every day of the year.
The smallest shared territory in the world.
Half French and half Dutch, Saint Martin is the smallest territory that shares its sovereignty, known for its French patisserie and luxury shops, as well as for its airport where planes land and take off a few meters from the heads of tourists, while they enjoy the beach.
Cancun, the Caribbean destination with the most weddings... and leader in sentimental breakups.
With 240 sunny days per year, approximately 46,000 weddings are held annually in Cancun. but ironically according to a study made by Sunshine travel agency in United Kingdom, Cancun has the first place as the tourist destination that causes more ruptures.
The mysterious sound of the Caribbean Sea that is "heard" from space.
A group of researchers from the University of Liverpool, studying the currents of the Caribbean Sea, discovered that it emitted a sound. A noise so powerful that affects the Earth's gravitational field, allowing it to be detected from space. Thanks to data from NASA's Grace satellite, it was discovered that the waves trapped in the Caribbean Sea generate a resonance similar to the air inside a whistle. The sound is inaudible to humans, but thanks to researchers from the University of Liverpool, which has raised it to an audible limit, sounds like this:
The Boiling Lake.
Not everything in the Caribbean are beaches of fine white sand and turquoise waters, on the island of Dominica is the Boiling Lake, the lake is in a volcanic zone and it has a temperature of 95ºC offering an unusual landscape, full of bubbling water bluish gray color and that is usually covered by a cloud of vapor.
The Caribbean Sea has undoubtedly the most beautiful beaches on the planet. But the turquoise blue beaches are just part of the attraction, we must add its population, rich in culture thanks to mixed races and a great diversity of animal life. Without counting the secrets that still await us in their depths.
