What the Ousting of Bannon Means for the Future of the Trump Presidency

I turned on the television to find breaking news that Trump ally and strategist Steve Bannon was ousted per the recommendation of chief strategist John Kelly. As I flipped through the mainstream media news channels, I found liberal leaning channel claiming repeatedly how Bannon was a sympathizer for white nationalists. On the conservative leaning channel, I saw a media pundit claim Bannon is a genius. As I heard this I realized that both interpretations of Bannon weren't entirely accurate. These claims made by media commenters are just bits and pieces of facts, not really telling viewers about the situation as a whole inside the White House.

Bannon was chosen as a strategist for Trump, namely because of his ability to boost Trump's campaign during the election. Trump's "America First" pledge during the campaign was articulated by Bannon himself. This message resonated well with the American people, because they were sick of useless foreign intervention and wars. When Trump was elected America's forty-fifth president of the United States he faced one of his biggest challenges yet. There was a conflict in the Middle Eastern country of Sryia. Intelligence officials were claiming that a chemical attack was orchestrated by the Assad led government, without any basis of evidence to point to. What's worse is that these attacks occurred in rebel held territory, and could've very well been the terrorists who implemented the horrid attacks on dozens of children. Assad had no leverage if he were to do this. With the help of Russia, the Syrian forces drove out the rebels from multiple areas in Syria, and the Western countries had no reason to act on him militarily. So why would he engage in such a foolish manner? Sadly, president Trump caved and listened to Kushner and his daughter, and decided to engage tomahawk missiles toward the Syrian airbase, killing several Russians. A couple congressmen claimed this violated the Constitution, however the majority of congress is pro-intervention, and decided not just to allow Trump to do this, but praise him!

Bannon was clearly the only person in the White House at the time that pursued the "America First" agenda. And now that he is gone, Trump's staff of advisors may use their power to shift Trump to a globalist rather than a nationalist. Especially, after Trump got the United States out of the disastrous TPP (transpacific partnership), which would have emboldened banks, corporations, and the elite.
