We are hearing of wildfires raging across many places lately. Every year, more than the last. While reading some scripture at random, this passage from Joel's first chapter seemed hauntingly fitting.
Christ returned as scripture warned he would, and the world is being torched. I pray for those affected by this and several other divine chastisements, but mostly I pray the righteous are spared and strengthened by each lesson. Let the willing repent, and be spared. Let the rest be judged and dealt with fairly by the One appointed to do so.
18 How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.
19 O LORD, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field.
20 The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness.
