@polebird: 😱 Taking a rest day from pole practice 😱

in #blog8 years ago (edited)

For some reason, it is really hard for me to PLAN a rest day for pole. Life of a pole addict 😝 Sure… some days I am too busy, and simply have no time to take a class or home pole since we only have 24 hours in a day. Oh, all the things I could do with MORE time, if you are familiar with my blog, you probably realize that I have way too many hobbies and projects going on at once. But, the type of rest day I am referring to is the planned rest day – where you commit to NOT going to class or letting your body relax and recover from all the strenuous exercise.

I think it is difficult for me to plan to skip certain classes, and this may sound weird, for fear of missing out aka FOMO! What if you had to take a day off, and the combo taught that day is BADASS? I really don’t have FOMO in a lot of other daily activities or events, but for pole, it is there, just a little, and lingering in the back of my mind.

Why is a rest day important? It gives your muscles time to recuperate, so you can come back tomorrow or a couple days as a pole ninja! In any sport, it’s good to take a break any once in a while.

But, on to the topic of discussion… when I take a rest day from pole here are some of the things I enjoy doing (in no particular order):

#1. Catch up on movies and tv shows – Some of my favorite shows lately include Gray’s Anatomy (yes, I still watch that show), the Good Doctor, Stranger Things. Do you guys have favorite shows or movies online that I should check out? I have access to Netflix and Amazon Prime.

#2. Watch pole videos, yup HAHA. Still all about the #polelife and there's lots of awesome pole inspiration going on in the world. One of my favorite contemp pole videos to watch is this one (all credit goes to the owner and dancers of this video):

#3. Work on some of my creative projects – I’ve got a big variety of hobbies. I need to get back on the pottery wheel!

#4. Soak in the tub – I like using Epson salt as a muscle soak or from time to time I treat myself with a fun bath bomb which also provides a bit of aromatherapy. Usually I watch movies at the same time, haha. Multi tasking!

#5. Steem of course. – I really enjoy creating content and browsing! Even better if I can stretch and steem - again, all about that multitasking. Stretching doesn't count as pole, heheh. :P

#6. Go do something outside, if weather permits! I’m all about the outdoors – love hanging out at the lake, hiking, or going to the park.

I guess the list could go on and on forever since I am a bit of a serial hobbyist. :P

What kind of things do you like to do on your "relaxed" days? Thanks for reading and steem on friends!

Love,

That's good you got yourself some rest from your busy schedule. We all are so much busy in our lives that we have almost forgotten how to spare time for ourselves and how to live life.
Sometimes it is good to just stop and feel the life and wind.

Hehehe yeah I’m not great at taking legit rest days 😝 thank you for stopping by!

Hhaha, yes that happens to everyone.
Even I can't take off or stay idle as I am in university, so at a time so many things are going on at a time.
But yeah as they say "It is life" and it must go on lol

Your blog has been great. The pictures are very beautiful.

Thank you so much, appreciate your comment!

I know the feeling! I bumped up my Tri training loads the last few weeks and rest day gets harder and harder! I have to pop on a load of Tri videos and read some magazines! At least I can tinker with my bikes to distract myself! They always say the biggest problem for most athletes isn't getting them to train, it's getting them to rest!

Oh cool, I would love to read about your tri training sometime, that is awesome! Yeah I think athletic drive just keeps us going... to a fault and maybe to the point of overdoing it

Truly a serial hobbyist. Haha. You are guilty of not resting from poledance when you use the 'free' time to watch pole videos, because your mind will be performing the steps you see there. Haha.
I use my free time to read Novels ( I love John Grisham's books), and watch movies.

Oooo! I love reading too. Hahaha I guess it’s never a true rest from pole. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of it! What’s your favorite book by him?

The Client. It his first book I read before his dragnet caught me into reading a whole lot others.

ah thank you for that! :D

wow great. :) i like busy life.

Haha keeping busy is what I like :)

This is something I struggle with so much! If I had infinite muscle strength and calluses I would never rest.

I'm actually dreading when American Ninja Warrior comes back on TV... I love the show so much, but I already feel like I have no time. I'll just have to give up on sleep I think...

How good was Stranger Things? I loved it so much. Are they still making episodes of Greys or are you still going through it?

Yeah same here!! Less sleep and more time to do stuff 🤪although sometimes the lack of sleep catches up to me really bad and I have to just chill a whole day lol! They are still making greys and yeah stranger things- awesome! Team ELEVEN

Good post..so beautiful 😃

Thank you so much! 😁

Wow.....You really give much time this.

Hahah yeah, if only there was more time!

Lol I just got back to practice after 10 days of partying. I got a battle in 5 days!

Oh good! Haha got to live it up sometimes :)

Great pictures...😀

Awww yay! Glad you like them, thank you so much @xaero1 🤗
