Eunice was a little windy
Well, Eunice was a little hard to handle!
Last afternoon and evening, we had to deal with a pretty big storm. I mean, ofcourse, what do you expect when you call a storm 'Eunice'? She sounds tough!
Dudley, Eunice's younger cousin, came around first. He made our home (mainly the roof) creak, which made me quite scared of Eunice a day and a half later. She was going to be worse than Dudley! Our roof seems to have survived the ordeal though, but our fence wasn't as lucky.
Our fence wasn't young, I think. It was already looking a little weathered. We had plans to replace it within a few years, but I guess we are forced to do so now. I wrote to our insurance about it, but I doubt we'll get help financially. I remember them helping me out when my whole house got flooded though and aside from the financial side of this, they also knew good people to do the work for me, so I'm asking for help/tips in that department aswell. Who knows.
I guess, for a storm this big, we still got lucky. I was afraid something would happen and kinda expected this fence to go. The wind went right inbetween ours and the neighbour's houses, creating a perfect wind tunnel to blow away the most exposed part of the fence.
Oh well, compared to people losing parts of their roofs and some people even having lost their lives, we are doing fine. I had been bugging hubby about being home before the end of the morning for a few days already and he got home before lunch, so I was happy he was safe. Their entire office was closed at 14:00 either way, to make sure everyone got home in time for the worst of it.
I'll say I did sleep quite badly! I stayed up later, because I didn't want to be caught in my pyjama's if our roof was blown off (we have a single story home) and the storm just kept on raging. Eventually, we did go to bed though, but the sounds kept me up for quite a while after.
This morning, the sun is shining! Well... it wasn't shining when we went to clear out the broken fence... it was raining then, but it's shining now! Much better. There's still some harsh winds predicted, but it can't be as bad as Eunice.
All in all, this is way less stressful than that time my house got flooded, so... bright side!

After bad times good time will come
In my region storms don't hit that way. But we always give maintenance to the houses, especially the roof and the gutters through which the water passes, we keep them clean; In this way, when the rainy season arrives, we avoid flooding.
It seems mother nature at work
It is good to always keep the house in good condition because with these climatic changes that we are seeing, one day it is radiant and the next day there is a storm.
