Hatteras Bowls- a great place to get healthy eats on your kite vacation

With in walking distance of our hotel in the OBX (Outer Banks in North Carolina) is an amazing Acai Bowl restaurant.
Acai bowls are a healthy and delicious way to start your day or have a "dessert-like" fix.

According to Healthline there are many impressive benefits derived from acai.
One of the biggest reasons to consume acai is for it's antioxidant benefit. They outrank blueberries and cranberries both! We all know antioxidants "neutralize" the free radicals in your body that can contribute to disease.

Well, check this out! In the same quantity of blueberries, acai has 3x the amount of antioxidants!

There is also some evidence that acai can even boost brain function and lower your cholesterol. Grab a bowl before your next kite session and you will stay sharp and land all you're new tricks.

The menu for the different bowl/flavor combinations is impressive with some exciting and exotic choices.
I decided on the Bermuda Triangle which was topped with banana, pineapple, granola, chia seeds, coconut flakes, and lavender. And trust me, I did disappear for a while in the ecstasy of my delicious bowl. YUM

They also serve up healthy smoothies, coffee, and vegan ice cream!

There is a cute little shaded seating area beside the shop. Patrons are encouraged to bring their own mugs for beverages and they do recycle!

The owner, Gage Fitcher is a young entrepreneur and kite surfer. She is local to the island and is a delight! She started the business a month ago and is so stoked about its success. The summer season hasn't even begun and people are spilling off of the deck.
