Math puzzle + bot TRAP
This puzzle can have more then one correct answer !
In fact I have seen THREE answers, but maybe there is even more.
First right ( and most complete ) guess with full explanation (important) , how your answer was derived - will get a prize 3 SBD.
This puzzle is also a TRAP for bots. Steemit users posting comment without your answer to the puzzle, but praising like usual "nice post", "very interesting" etc etc, (so typical to the automatic bots) - will be unfollowed, muted and flagged.
Be warned.
This is one of my numerous attempts (there will be more) to get rid of all the spaming bots from my blog.

(1×4) + 1= 5
(2×5) + 2= 12
(3×6) + 3 = 21
(8×11) + 8 = 96
8 + 11 means 8 + 8(11) = 96
I used the running total method and got 96. 77+8+11=96
40 might be the 1
