Get Busy Listing or Get Busy Dying – 6 Pro Tips For Listing Your InventorysteemCreated with Sketch.

in #blog7 years ago

There are so many coined phrases we here in this business we called reselling. One of these phrases is that "The money is in the buy”. And there is an element of truth in that statement but the reality of it is that the money is in the listing because if you do not list your items you won’t get sales, period. Buy all the crap you want and if you don’t list it, you won’t make the money and even worse you could become a hoarder buried in your pile of stuff. Also, another thing to keep in mind is that not listing your inventory is the kiss of death to your business with more money going out than coming in.

Get busy listing or get busy dying. Here are some pro tips to help you increase your listings.

1) List what you bring home right away – This one is key! Don’t delay, stop putting it off and take action immediately. Understand if your product sits in your warehouse, garage or home and it is not listed, potential buyers never see it and you lose sales. Don’t screw around and just list it!

2) List every day – Be consistent and list every day. Schedule time out of your day to do your listings. List items on every platform to generate new interest in your stores. Platforms like eBay, Etsy, Amazon, and Mercari thrive off of fresh new listings and this gives you new exposure to your stores daily. More views equal more sales it is just the way it works. You can’t say a selling platform doesn’t work when you only have 13 items listed.

3) Don’t burn yourself out from listing – One of the things I have noticed over the years is that many people will start off on fire and list for 12 hours straight and they end up so burned out they don’t want to list for a whole week. While some re-sellers can list this way without an issue most re-sellers do get burned out. So take it bit by bit and list for a couple hours a day. Stay focused during this time and knock them out.

4) Listing small amounts consistently pays off in the long run – Not only does this prevent listing burnout and gives your stores more exposure every day. You really can build your stores on any platform quickly. For example: If you listed 10 items a day in your eBay store for 30 days you would have 300 items in your store if you had no sales (which you know that won’t happen). If you took a couple hours and listed 10 items on eBay, Etsy and Mercari each day you would have 900 items available in the marketplace depending of course on your sales for the month.

5) Schedule time out of your day to do your listings – I have found if you schedule your listing times every day like you do for taking a shower and eating breakfast you will make the time to do it and see it through. Dedicate that time strictly for listing. That means close twitter, Facebook and shut off that TV and crank up some tunes and hammer them out.

6) Develop your own system – One of the things I have done is developed my own system to be more efficient with my listing time. I take all my pictures at one time for all the platforms I sell on. List my items at one time, pre-weigh my items so I know proper shipping rates and give each item a number so I can easily locate that item when it sells. There is much more I could say on this topic but I will save that for another post. Systems are great for keeping your workflow moving fast and consistent.

These are just a few of the tips I have learned over the years. Your success is totally up to you and in this business, you have to list. It is a must. If you don’t list on whatever platforms you are selling on no one sees your items and when no one sees your items you will not get sales, it is just how it works.

So get busy listing or get busy dying!
