Sacrificing privacy for convenience, the modern dilemma

Are we recklessly exchanging our privacy rights for convenience? You may have noticed that the advertisements in your Google searches very closely match your interests. This is by no means a coincidence, Google tracks your browsing habits to provide them with ad insertion information for their advertising customers. Google actually has a complete profile of what they believe your exact demographic is according to your searches. Have you ever wondered what Google thinks you are? Check https://www.google.com/settings/ads/onweb/ to find out.
According to Google I am a 24-35 year old male who likes business, finance, video games, and antiques (?), which for the most part is dead on. Google knows when i need to leave to make flights on time and evsn when i am running late for work. This is all legal because we choose to use Googles software for nearly everything in our daily lives, but how much is too much.
I am not saying lets start a revolution and bring down the tech giants who invade our privacy, but what I can say is be careful. Never post anytging on social media that could be harmful to your career or reputation and consider using a VPN to protect your security. Privacy matters and if we allow this invasion to continue, eventually notging will be sacred. Big brother is watching.

Yeah, we sacrifice privacy for convenience.

But from where I am sitting, it's just one symptom of a greater problem... we have been trained to need so much "stuff" (stimulation, work, money, entertainment) in every waking moment of our lives that we give up our privacy willingly because we're just too stressed to get everything DONE.

I think the privacy issue would be less prominent if our lives were "smaller" and we chose a more non-consumer angle of simplicity.

I will admit, i am just as guilty as the next guy but I did recently invest in a VPN because sometimes u gotta go off grid
