People don't ask, wish, or pray for pre-existing conditions. To no fault of her own, Kitt has Type One Diabetes; we would never have wished this to happen to her or the thousands of people that bravely manage this unpredictable, exhausting, and life threatening disease. These strong souls are the ones that need a helping hand to ensure they have resources that are within means to live a healthy and happy life. It breaks my heart that elected officials are leaning towards dropping the Federal mandate to guarantee affordable health insurance for those with pre-existing conditions.

We may not live in the district where your vote comes from, but your vote will affect her and the thousands of other people just like her. Step outside of your Party Lines and the isolated conference rooms of Capitol Hill where you are having this discussion, and let your heart wander back to the voices of your communities. Take action to feel their experiences - sit down with a child that has an unbearable disease and experience their wonder, their thirst for life and be their warrior in DC to make everything possible for that special soul and their family to have an easier tomorrow. Focus on making life and joy happen instead of focusing on the debate, on the words in policy, on the television interviews, on the handshake promises that contribute more to furthering doctrine established by Party and political futures than to the well-being of beautiful children like Kitt.
