RE: The Internet: Commodity or Necessity?

In the United States, it's become almost a necessity. Almost every potential employer expects that you can apply online and correspond by email. Parents of school-aged children will quickly discover that homework and messages from teachers are predominantly internet-based. And a lot of government publications that used to be obtainable in print are published exclusively online now. People who judge those living below the poverty line for having internet and mobile phones are either out of touch with how modern society functions or just hateful.
