Thought Of The Day - Envy

Disguised As Compassion

I have actually been pondering this very idea for a few months now, which is that, envy comes disguised as some kind of compassion.

Let me explain, so lets take taxation as our first example, people are some how fine with the idea of government taking what you we earn, as long as it goes towards the good of our society. The average person only seem to have an issue with it when too much of the money goes towards politicians or war, or like here where our president build. I personally don't like the idea of the government taking any of y money, ever. My personal principal is that this is being done firstly against my will, and secondly it is done so by force of imprisonment or death if I refuse. Where the envy comes in is when you see politicians and celebrities these days, calling on the masses to be envious of those who have. They tell those who have not to look at those who have and to be upset because it is not fair, and then they demand that you vote for them so they can make those who have pay more. A great example of this would be Bernie Sanders who can't ever stop talking about the one percent, and then telling them to pay their fair share, and it's done so to make people angry because other have what they don't.

Another example that Steven brings up is how they no longer keep score in childern's sports, because this is more compassionate to the kids who are loosing, but it's not, that is just catering to the envy of the kids who are loosing. What they are actually doing is stealing that victory in from the other team who earned it, all because envy and not compassion. You see it with children growing up, one child will be envious of another because the other kid got a bigger piece of cake or one more M&M and will start crying about it not being fair, then the parents will rush in as make everything equal, all because of envy.

"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

"Never underestimate the power of jealousy and the power of envy to destroy. Never underestimate that." - Oliver Stone

"Envy blinds men and makes it impossible for them to think clearly." - Malcolm X

The problem here is again as always the government, especially when they are the parent that comes running in trying to make everything equal so the children don't cry, by way of policies predicated on envy. The housing crisis is another stellar example of this, where the government basically forced the banks to provide loads to people who wouldn't ever be able to pay back these enormous loans. Who was the most affected by this, those who saved all their money for years to buy a home, those who built good credit, who didn't need the subprime mortgage loans, they got screwed at the end of the day, again because of envy. Because those who couldn't afford and who didn't spend their lives saving, was envious of those who did.

We need to celebrate success and those who achieve greatness, not vilify them as the evil people who just hoard wealth, and even if they do it's theirs and they earned it. I'm definitely not including politicians this, I talking about everyday folks who have worked their asses off to get where they are. I see this a lot even here on Steemit, where a new user has that envious attitude, those who have or have worked hard to get where they are somehow own them their time and money, or upvote.

No tax equals no government. I don't want to play that game. Not even a little.

What I really don't like are taxes that are confiscatory, that are used to fund stupid shit like bailouts and that use them to stack the deck against the little guy. That pisses me off.

The government didn't force anybody to give loans. They simply de regulated the banking industry in general AND guaranteed the bullshit loans. Then they bailed the dumbasses that were too freaking stupid to make money in that market.

That's what pisses me off. That and the mistaken idea that life should somehow be fair.
