How Is This News?

It literally feels like we are moving closer to Idiocracy with every passing day.

So if you don't know, Monday night Trump had the Clemson University Tigers over for din din at the White House to celebrate them winning the national college football championship. Why is this news you might be asking, didn't Obama do the same, is this not an annual event, did Trump say something racist about them? No, much worse than anything you can ever imagine, he got them his personal favorite fast food. On top of that Trump paid for it out of his own pocket, and the mainstream media and internet lost their collective minds. You're probably still waiting for what exactly more there was to this story, but unfortunately that pretty much it, he bought collage kids fast food from McDonald's and Domino's and Wendy's.

I'm not in the mood to go into what each and every stupid person in media and who hates him had to say, surely you have seen folks sharing just how terrible this act is, how dare he get America's most bought hamburger for guests to eat. The media outrage over this was just hilarious and all the while only doing wonders for his approval ratings.

"If people in the media cannot decide whether they are in the business of reporting news or manufacturing propaganda, it is all the more important that the public understand that difference, and choose their news sources accordingly." - Thomas Sowell

What these caviar and foie-gras eating snobs fail to recognize is that this is exactly what the average to poor America family eats as a guilty pleasure, and the numbers of burger sales backs it up. He didn't spend a hundreds of thousands of dollar to charter a plane to bring specialty hot dogs and pizza's like Obama once did. The other part is does anyone even know if maybe he asked them what they would like, and this is what the Tigers asked for?

The most absolutely insane part of this no news story is that the Washington Post, wrote a political analysis about this and published with exactly what is cost, along with fucking diagrams of the layout. They even went as far as to fact check Trump say that the burgers where piled a mile high, I kid you not. Seems these morons have no clue when it was indended to not be taken literally. I honestly can't even anymore.

I thought it was pretty darn fun. Those guys and their guests got to eat BigMacs served on sterling silver platters. How cool can you be? The WH staff is famous for it's meal service, I'm sure these were served at optimum temp. All reports from the team was that they had a great time...

Mork! Move to the States already! lol :) We need you. haha :) Yes I get so aggravated at the media sometimes, well except for Fox News. haha.

All I was thinking was: these burgers are gonna be cold before anyone ever gets to them :')

what the average to poor America family eats as a guilty pleasure

Here's what I experienced when in America (and to be honest I have to admit it was in New York, not 'average 'Merica'): a burger cots a few dollars, for 1$ I could 'upgrade' my 10 chicken nuggets to 20 pieces (!). A salad costed me 10$, and with some added ingredients that actually fill up it would be 17$. Groceries (veggies, healthy yoghurts) were crazy crazy expensive as well, while a 1200 calories bagel 'with a schmear' is 3$. So I'm thinking: eating burgers for the poor American is not a 'guilty pleasure', guilty pleasures are for those who do feel guilty because they can actually buy something healthier. I think burgers are basically the only option for a lot of Americans which is sad - healthy foods should be the ones that are cheapest.

Just a sidenote by the way, it was just that one sentence in your post triggering me as I didn't follow the rest of the discussion on this subject because I'm not actually interested in what president serves what food.

Yeah I agree, probably not the best phrasing, I meant it in the way that they know it's not the best, but it's cheap and everyone buys it.

And to your side note, I don't care either what the president serves and neither does anyone else, which was my exact point. But the media gods feels this is somehow breaking news lol
