After reading <Zootopia>
I have been involving in Mint reading for 25 days, and I have finished the first novel which is called Zootopia. I also have watched the movie with the same name and the same storyline before. I have to say it's a fantastic movie from my point of view. It's very fit for all levels of age because the story is adventurous, the picture is beautiful and the implied meaning is based on social reality. Then I will outline two major points to discuss the story.
The setting of the whole story is interesting and reasonable. The Zootopia is a modern metropolis where all kinds of mammals are living in. In order to let totally different mammals live together, the Zootopia uses advanced technologies to create different climates, such as the high temperatures in Sahara square, the muggy weather in rainforest district, and the cold snowy scene in Tundratown. Besides the different climates exist in one city, mammals of different sizes can also live together in harmony. They certainly are located in separated zones, the giant mammals like elephants or giraffes are living in the facilities which are almost several ten meters high, but the tiny mammals like Arctic shrew are only 10 centimeters long, so their houses are very small. I can remember one scenario: in order to chase the thief, Judy and thief entered the tiny mammals' community together, inside the community, our little bunny looks like a giant rabbit. I really like this huge contrast.
The story describes some existing serious social problems in the USA. The dividing of American people is becoming very serious. The gap between rich and poor is increasingly wider, and they basically don't know much about each other at present. The rich people like globalization, because globalization can help the rich people earn more money. But the more poor people can't find the decent jobs in the USA, because the more rich guy prefer building plants in countries whose local people have lower incomes. However, this kind of dividing is not like the one in Zootopia. Racial discrimination is more like the event happened in Zootopia. There are many races in the USA, making sure that they can live together peacefully is a very challenging task. Because of some deep historical reasons, there are some conflicts between some races, and these conflicts and contradictions can't be tackled in a short period. As a novel or an animation movie, Zootopia is an Idealized world, their problems can be fixed easily by courage and kindness. But real problems in the real world can't be solved so easily like Zootopia. Therefore the story of Zootopia just expresses the goodwill of human beings. The actual problems need all human to work very hard to fix.
In conclusion, that's all my thinkings to the Zootopia story.
