Talking About Determination - Swimming 200km to Raise Money for Cancer Research!

Since last Friday Maarten van der Weijden, former world champion long-distance swimmer, Olympic medalist and cancer survivor, has been swimming through the Dutch waters in Friesland.

During this weekend he is trying to finish, by swimming, a 200 long route passing 11 cities. This route is normally known for its winter ice skating edition elfstedentocht.

van der Weijden is doing it all for one reason, raising money for cancer research! Last year he made his first attempt which he had to stop because of medical issues. This year, however, he's back! And the good news is, it looks like he will make it this time! He just received the last stamp in the 10th city before returning back to where he started.

Knowing what this man is doing, I believe nothing is impossible as long as you have the right amount of determination. Human capability is truly amazing!
