Most of us start every morning with a cup of coffee. We still drink more cups during the day.Drinking has a lot of benefits, but also some unwanted effects.

The advantages and disadvantages of coffee consumption are the following:

  1. It gives you energy and makes you smarter .The active coffee ingredient, is absorbed into the blood, and from there into the brain, where it blocks a neurotransmitter called adenosine.
    When this happens, the amount of neurotransmitters such as dopamine increases, which leads to an improvement in brain activity. Basically, a cup of coffee improves memory, mood, vigilance, the energy level.

    Caffeine is one of the very few natural substances that fight against fats. A cup of coffee increases the rate of metabolism by 3-11%. Thus, the rate of fat burning increases by up to 10% for overweight people and up to 29% for weak people. However, these effects "diminish" over time and are felt less well by people who consume a lot of coffee.

  3. Improves physical performance
    Not just brain function is affected by caffeine. This substance also increases the level of ephedrine in the blood and allows fat cells to be used more efficiently as fuel. On average, a cup of coffee increases physical performance by 11-12% if it is drunk about half an hour before a physical exercise session.

  4. Protects you from Alzheimer and Parkinson
    Studies shows that people who consume coffee have a risk of Alzheimer's being 65% lower than those who do not drink it. In case of Parkinson's disease, the risk is 32% to 60% lower.

  5. Rich source of antioxidants
    Coffee is the most important source of antioxidants in the traditional Western diet. The drink contains more antioxidants than those that an ordinary person takes from all the fruits and vegetables they consume, say experts.

  6. Decreases Insulin Level
    In addition to positive effects, coffee consumption has a number of disadvantages. Caffeine increases the level of stress hormones in the body, the body's response being increased levels of cortisol and insulin. The latter increases the level of inflammation and makes us feel bad. Moreover, regular coffee consumption decreases the body's sensitivity to insulin, so the cells are badly responding to the blood sugar level. A large amount of sugar in the blood causes damage to the arteries and a high risk of death due to a cardiovascular disease.

  7. Increases gastric acidity
    Coffee is one of the drinks that increase stomach acidity, causing a whole host of problems and imbalances in gastric flora. Excessive coffee consumption can cause stomach discomfort, indigestion, gastric burns, but also serious problems such as gastric floral imbalances.

  8. Strong diuretic
    Coffee is a powerful diuretic, and in the excess urine it causes it can deprive the body of important minerals, such as calcium, magnesium and potassium. Poor levels of these minerals can lead to serious systemic imbalances. Moreover, some coffee substances interfere with the metabolism of some drugs in the liver.
