I believe Ryan when he talks about how important it is to write things that help other people and add value. Generosity is also something that is often overlooked by people focused on making money... but very often people who are generous are rewarded because they have such good reputation within the community.
This has been my experience again and again wherever I put my attention and energy online. If you are generous, the community is generous with you in many ways. Giving freely and receiving easily over time.
Thanks @matthewdavid and that's very true, it will be more difficult for those that purely focus on making money first. And hopefully eventually as a persons reputation increases then deservedly so should their rewards.
