I am glad that you came out on the other side while many did not and are not now. Mind-altering drugs have been used for ions in religious ceremonies. But the key is that they were used with spiritual guidance and people came out richer and "better" if there is such a thing.
That was the intention of LSD when Timothy was promoting it. But most everyone using drugs now is doing it from a place of despair and to escape and certainly without a guide making sure that the experience is safe and enriching.
