The wisest words, made less poetic...

The most encapsulating poem of the highest ideals of man,(and woman) in my opinion.

I have pasted the poem (in italics), and destroyed it with my own clumsy interpretation.
Some people don't like poetry, avoid even engaging in it, and that's cool.

Hopefully with my clumsy interpretation, verse by verse, it will inspire others to read the beautiful original...as it should be read...

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster,
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

Keep your ambitions with you, but never let them control you.
Always keep thinking, but don't be an intellectual.
Stay level headed no matter what comes at you in life,
whether good and bad, it's the same shit, a different day.
Don't get into arguments with people less intelligent than you
they will lower you down to their standards, and beat you with experience.
Don't cry and waste time about what you lose in life,
Get on with it,starting again, from scratch .

If you can make a heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

Don't let materialism rule your life,
It really isn't that important.
If you lose all you have, get on with getting what you need.
And don't whine about it. Never be a victim.
Never let the physical hardship stop you, that is an just an excuse
to stop.
Mental strength is all. You are the boss of you.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And—which is more—you'll be a Man, my son!

Stay centered at all times.
Never be intimidated by others, or intimidate others.
Never let yourself be weak at a detriment to yourself.
Respect everyone, but never look up to anyone.
Don't be lazy – ever. Do something.
And you have will everything, my child.

You are an adult.
