Reg and Derek sober up. Gerald doesn't.

Reg and Derek said goodby to Gerald and they were all very sad – except Gerald.

He wasn't remotely sad.
He was very drunk, and super excited to be going on his journey to see Ethel.

They decided that they couldn't stay here any longer, and be alive.

They had found out that being perpetually drunk is lot easier in theory, than it is in reality.

They both knew they had to go when Derk called out, “I can't breath, jeesus christ, I can't breathe anymore. Oh jeesus christ.”
Reg pointed out to him that he was actually swimming upside down, and that was the reason for his breathing troubles.
Derek was so drunk he hadn't even noticed which way 'up' was.

They then knew they had to sober up.

So in the morning sun, they said there goodbyes to Gerald.
Reg was already perched on top of Derek, waving his wing wildly to Gerald.

“Just watch out for the kangaroos,” Gerald said, as he turned his back, and set off to see Ethel.

He departed at hi speed. At his current rate, he would leave his tree well before nightfall...

...they swam off, away from their friend.

" Do you really think he was bear,?" Reg said.

"Nah!," said Derek, he never took his fur off when he came down to the sea. I would never have eaten him though - I would have gotten way too drunk...”

As they swam out into the ocean hidden eyes were watching them closely...

“ I want one,” One pair of eyes said, to the other.
“Where are you gonna keep it? for crying out loud”, Came the reply.
