A funny thing happened on the way to Woodstock...Hippies and the CIA ...

As I mentioned in my recent post, (the you tube outage), one of things that has been happening since, is the bizarre lists of 'recommended viewing' that seems to appearing. Things that have no relevance to my obvious interests.

There was one however , that was very much within my interest range.... (Thanks, you tube!)

"Weird Scenes Inside the Canyon by David McGowan"

Jim Morrison was a 'clean cut' youth, with 'little interest' in music. He never learned to read, or write, music.
Jim Morrison arrived in LA, and it was the beginning of an entirely new music scene.

The 'hippy movement' was manufactured in Hollywood and not elsewhere, (Haight- Ashbury, SF), as has been popularly reported.

Along with Jim Morrison, a plethora of bands emerged in LA. There was no music scene in LA prior to this, (New York, Nashville and Detroit being the main music centers up until then).

Members of these bands - and their parental connections to 'the establishment' - is quite disturbing...
From the OSS and CIA operatives, to Naval Intelligence, Air force intelligence, and various other ties to arms of the military.

The Byrds,
Buffalo Springfield,
The Beach Boys,
The Monkeys,
The Mamas and Papas,
Crosby, Stills an Nash,
The Eagles,
...and even Frank Zappa. (His father was a chemical warfare engineer).

Another bizarre occurrence with these bands members, are the ties to the 'blue bloods'.
(Old families tracing right back to the 'founding fathers'.)

When the Byrds formed together, some of the members could not even play their instruments...

As these groups came into being, so did lots of nightclubs and radio stations at the same time - to promote them and to 'be seen'.
Record labels poured serious money into contracts with these bands that had no real CV's, in terms of performances.

Vito Paulakis, was the self styled creator of the image of 'the freaks', and then becoming known as 'hippies', and 'flower children'.
He was immersed throughout 'the scene' at the time, known in both the music and acting worlds.

Vito Paulakis was related, by marriage - to the Rockefeller's.

Along with these new bands sprouting up, 'The young Turk's' also emerged.
These were the up and coming 'sexy' set of actors and actresses - (Dennis Hopper, for example).
These actors also had many military family ties, including family who were members of the Skull and Bones society....

What is interesting to note...

These 'anti establishment' individuals were very well known, and were draft aged men.
Not one member of any of these bands were ever called up.
None of them were charged for drug offenses. Some light 'slap on the wrists' for publicity maybe , but that's all.
They were openly using and distributing drugs at the time...
Under age sex was prevalent 'in the scene', but no one was ever prosecuted for this criminal act.

The LA music scene in the late 60's may well have been one of the most far reaching, and biggest psy-ops in the history of the world....And is still very possibly going strong, in it's various forms..
