The 1900s

Around the first decade of the 1900s, my great grandmother got herself two seashells (also called kabibi in the Philippines). When you put your ear onto one of the seashells, you can hear the sounds of the ocean. Until now, every timeI do that, I can still hear it!

These seashells were from my great grandmother. She already had it sometime around the early 1900s.

I decided to keep it

You can still hear the sounds of the ocean waves when you put your ear closer to its opening.

During the early 90s, as many of our older possessions were being sold, I decided to keep these seashells as keepsakes. I wanted to own something antique, too.

Before, we used to put many things inside the shell. Things like pins, buttons, and other little stuff that could fit in. Some of the pins still exist to this day, but the others were lost over time. 

I remember, my late uncle always wanted to buy it from me, but I didn't give in and still wanted to keep it.

The sentimental value of these seashells were more valuable than its antique age for me.

These seashells possess sentimental value for me.
