Motorcycle Diary: #001 - There is Boracay in Davao Occidental
As I continue to search for some great spots in Mindanao, I chance upon a place called Little Boracay in a small, secluded island of Sta. Maria, Davao Occidental. Together with my MC buddies, we took the road off to our next destination in the southern part of Davao region.
Santa Maria is a 2nd class municipality in the province of Davao Occidental. A small community that is thriving with its simple and peaceful life. There are numerous attractions you can enjoy on this humble town; but the most popular landmark is the Little Boracay beach resort that is located in the coastal Barangay of Sto. Niño. In just 3 days of planning and preparation, we headed our way to Sta. Maria's famous tourist destination.
We departed at Davao city around 11:00am then stopped at kilometer 80 around 12:30pm to take some rest. As we continue with our ride climbing the uphill road of Malalag - just after the welcome sign - we were greeted by the picturesque view of Malalag bay. Sta. Maria is just 18 kilometers away from Malalag bay vantage point so we stopped again for a while to take some photos and headed back to the road after a couple of shots.
We arrived at Sta. Maria tired from the long bumpy ride and the best revenge is a palate full of rice and a bowl of hot beef bulalo in a small karinderya named bulaloan Ni RC just along the highway. Their bulalo tastes divine that I had to refill my plate with 2 more extra rice. :)
Little Boracay Island in Santa Maria, Davao Occidental is like a small replica of the world-famous Boracay Island. It has about 2 kilometers of natural white sand shoreline with pristine waters; but with the absence of night parties, tourist influx, stalls and shops. The resort looks simple yet inviting. You can feel the tranquility and serenity of the place because it is quiet and clean. The resort has various types of rooms such as air-conditioned rooms, nipa huts, open cottages and even duplex which you can choose according to your liking.
Little Boracay is truly Santa Maria's hidden getaway for travelers like us who wants to have a peaceful and serene place to stay. We had fun at Little Boracay and I'm sure you will too so pack up your things now and take a quick visit at this beautiful Island.
How to get Here:
Little Boracay is 105 kilometers away from Davao City(according to my gauge) and would take approximately 2 hours of travel time. From Davao City, ride a bus at Ecoland bus terminal bound to Santa Maria (fare ranges from 80 - 150php). Then hail a habal-habal motorcycle that would take you to Little Boracay beach resort.

I will share my #tibingmotorcyclediaries every sunday. Till next ride.

First thing: Not that I need the competition, but you should use the motorcycle tag in here, too. It's a growing niche and I love motorcycles!
