Attenborough changed the original Latin name, Amorphophallus, because he thought the pronunciation of this word on TV could be misunderstood.

The Swiss botanical garden was fortunate enough to have two such flowers, which flourished twice in just 18 months. The last time Titan Arum flourished in April 2011. Prior to that, the plant flourished in Switzerland back in 1936.

The flower has attracted some 25,000 brave visitors, who have managed to bear the terrible smell of this, the largest, flower in the world.
