If you were born with female sex (vulva) and you identify with the opposite gender, you are a transgender man

If on the contrary, you were born with male sex (penis), and you identify with the opposite gender you are a trans woman.

How do I know if I am a trans person?

First, there is not a single absolute and definitive way to know if we are trans, for each person is different. Many trans people, never get to know that they are trans.

That you were born with a vulva and liked to play with action toys alone does not automatically mean that you are trans, there are many girls who play with toys assigned to the male gender and are cisgender. It also applies to people born with penises that play with toys assigned to the female gender. Knowing if we are transsexual comes from a much more complex internal process.

For many of us who passed the 25 years, it was an internal process much more complex than for that recent generation whose parents are able to realize if their son or daughter is dissatisfied with their gender (with their clear exceptions), we mostly had to Realize alone and even without the support of close relatives. Just as surely it was much more complex for trans men belonging to older generations.

As we said in the previous post, it is impossible to define our gender identity based on whether or not we like the things assigned socially to each gender. Your own perception in front of the mirror is a key element to discover your identity.

I can suggest that you ask yourself the following:

I like my name? I would like to get another name? What would?

I feel comfortable with the parts of my body? I would like them to be different? How would you like them to be?

I feel attractive when I go out on the street? What does not make me feel attractive? Is it that I do not like the way I look or the clothes I wear?

I feel full during sex? I use all the parts of my body without feeling ashamed?

I already know that I am trans. What should I do now?

What you want and your body asks you. If you are ready and want to look different you can change your clothes. You can go to the nearest health specialist to be accompanied and can guide you on the hormonal process. You can chat with friends and tell them about your transition. There is no order, nor steps to start this new stage. Everyone did as he wanted, do not let anyone tell you how to transition.

I know I'm trans. Should I have an operation? Should I change my clothes?  

 Of course not. It is a personal decision. Not all trans people are operated. And not operating, it will not make you less trans. There are even trans people who never start HRT (Hormone Replacement Treatment), nor are they less trans. Each person decides if he wants to have surgery, or hormone, and when he is ready for it.

I already know that I am trans. If before I liked men or women, what am I now? 

If you are a trans man who likes women, you are a heterosexual man

If you are a trans man who likes men, you are a gay man

If you are a trans man who likes women and men, you are a bisexual man

If you are a trans woman who likes men, you are a heterosexual woman

If you are a trans woman who likes women, you are a lesbian woman

If you are a trans woman who likes women and men, you are a bisexual woman

I know that I am trans, that is, I do not feel comfortable with how I look, but I do not want to take on transsexual life because it is very difficult, I prefer to live as an effeminate boy or as a masculine woman. That's wrong?

No, it's not bad. The conditions of life for each person are different, everyone knows the risks and difficulties that they will have to face. You are not less trans for not living as such. You are exactly as valid and transsexual. Remember that if at some point in your life you decide to assume it, it will never be too late.
