STEEM.GLOBAL Adds Referral Links, New STEEM Faucet Method & Chatroom!
Roughly 4 days ago a massive retooling of the way the STEEM.GLOBAL faucet operates was started. The reasoning behind this was to try and make it harder for those wishing to expliot the faucet's daily payout amount by making a large number of accounts to drain the faucet.
It took a bit of creative thinking in order to address the multi-accounter attacks against STEEM.GLOBAL but I believe the new faucet distribution method should do the trick.
The New Way To Use The STEEM.GLOBAL Faucet
Originally when I'd designed the faucets functionality my main goal was to have it incredibly fast and easy to create an account and instantly receive a bit of STEEM on account creation. This worked fine and dandy for a while until a handful of users decided to start making a metric crap-load of accounts to snag the 0.143 STEEM that was given off the start.
In order to ensure that the faucet was not going to be drained simply by making a bunch of spam accounts to capitalize on my oversight the STEEM.GLOBAL faucet now requires a small 1.000 STEEM deposit (1) in order to get users started. A 30-day Fauceteer subscription can be purchased via the "Upgrades" page (2) on the site which enables automated hourly 0.005 STEEM payouts directly to your STEEM.GLOBAL balance without you even having to log in!
To purchase the 30-day Fauceteer subscription you must first deposit via the Coinpayments.net gateway provided on site. On average it takes 5 minutes to an hour for the STEEM to be credited automatically to your account and after that you are free to get your Fauceteer subscription and begin to soak up the STEEM offered by the faucet.
By design the 30-day Fauceteer subscription will make STEEM profit which can be withdrawn once your balance reaches the 1 STEEM withdrawal minimum. Happy Steemin' Folks!
Referral Links Are Now Enabled & Paying Out STEEM!
While logged in you can go under the "Account" menu item and find your referral link which can be shared with friends, family and co-workers. If they sign up for a new account with your referral link you will receive an additional 0.100 STEEM in your account. Each day you can earn up to 0.500 STEEM simply by having new users sign up under you link!
STEEM.GLOBAL Chatroom is Operational
While perhaps not the prettiest chat to grace out STEEM network in order to facilitate error reporting as well as create a place for STEEM.GLOBAL users to hang out and communicate with eachother. Eventually I plan to add tipping functions as well as some other fun things to keep users engaged on the site. As with everything on this site it's experimental and may or may not function as intended at times. My sincere apologies for any stress or hardship caused by this first of it's kind experimental STEEM faucet. Over time it will continue to improve.

It is great to see that you are still updating the faucet! I think it is a good call to use this method to get rid of the leechers who are making multiple accounts ;) Can I still use my old login on the faucet, or should I create a new one now after the update?

Sometimes it takes a bit to credit.. Nothing to do about it on our end sadly as it's all waits on the coinpayment API. Anywhere between 5 to 60 minutes I've seen them take to credit.
Just checked, and the credit is in my steem.global account now. So I guess I will see my balance rise in about 40 minutes ;)
Yeah, once you grab the Fauceteer upgrade the next hourly payout you will be included in.
Oh, I completely forgot to do that. Now I should be getting the hourly payouts :)

I liked more the old system, it is a shame that it did not work due to exploiters. Now it is more difficult to new users to start using. But the referral account and being able to pay in other cryptocurrencies help to reduce this problem.
I wish this new faucet will success.
PD: In the scratch cards game there is no win cards for the 3x or bust game. Bug or feature?
The old system was far easier but far more easy for people to exploit and instead of writing a bunch of only semi effective IP screening and multi-accounter buster scripts I figured charging a small monthly fee for access would be easier.
LOL. That means that all the winning cards are won and only losing cards left. It is a feature not a bug.. I should probably go make more card sets.

But ... that's not how faucets work ....
I have to make a deposit and then I get hourly payouts, without logging in ?
You pay 1 STEEM for a month of 0.005 STEEM per an hour into your account.
Profit is made by the user. The deposit / fauceteer subscription is just to deter multi accounters.
So I pay 1 STEEM now and get 0.005 * 24 * 30 = 3.6 STEEM back ?
Usually on faucets you have to solve captchas and click some ad links and such ...
What would keep me from paying now and just waiting for 30 days to withdraw my 3.6 STEEM then ?

This isn't a normal faucet..! It's our own and it's different.
Is it perfect? No. Does it work half the time? Maybe!
This kinda sounds like a ponzi scheme, how can we be certain that we will get back our steem?
Basic math! I can understand how you may see a ponzi system at play here! The 1 STEEM 30-day Subscription fee is to ward off multi-accounters that threaten to drain the faucet the way it was set up previously.
A ponzi scheme takes the investments of others and pays out profit that way.. On STEEM.GLOBAL I'm paying out of my own pocket (or sometimes @pharesim's) and distributing it as a bonus to STEEM users in the know. You essentially will make a free 3.6 STEEM a month when you do the math.
On a side note, I run a decently ranked witness campaign here on STEEM meaning that I run one of the many servers that our blockchain exists on. Given the Delegated Proof of Stake system deployed by STEEM it would actually be the equivalent of shooting myself in the foot or cutting my own balls off if I ran off with the STEEM in the faucet, given I'll easily be far more wealthy, respected and prosperous by being a productive member of our ecosystem.
So far 20 users have become Fauceteers this month and I expect more will likely take the opportunity in the future. I appreciate the concern though, I didn't even really consider that people may believe it a ponzi until you mentioned it.
