If you have only recently re emerged from the deep woods of wherever or just returned home from a UFO abduction, this is the essential first stop for you on Mainstream Memia (or MSM, you know, like Trump’s favourite abbreviated nemesis!).

Meme’s like the hieroglyphs of the Ancient Egyptians of the distant past, are simple images that communicate mysterious meanings when deciphered by their eager consumers.

Starting in the dawn of the digital era, meme’s were easily downloadable and enjoyed content for users of those early modems. Videos and multimedia experiences of the present were not quite here yet, but the mischievous and absurdist humour prevalent in online communities today was emerging in the form of memes posted across message boards around the world…wide web.

Today memes cater to every demographic and subculture with a mobile phone or computer. Sent virally from one social media account to the next, from group SMS chat and into tomorrows office chain email etc.

The power these simple pieces of often hastily constructed content has not gone unnoticed by those types that pay attention to opportunities for communicative power.

Government bodies, global corporations and basically any other giant organisations or personalities has added the humble meme into its PR arsenal..to widely differing levels of success.

Mainstreams Memia endeavours to explore some of these memes that have escaped the phones of Gen Y and entered the corporate lexicon. I will explore the rise and often fall of these memes and the entities who wield them for their own agendas.

But mostly, I will showcase the awkward and ingenious attempts by traditional power figures adopting the newer generations media.
