The American Dream- what is it exactly?

The American Dream varies from person to person, however, the overall vitality of the American Dream is similar and fundamental. Immigrants come to America with the general visual of going from rags to riches, yet the idea shifts as social class distinctions and the struggle of life in America becomes more realistic. The American Dream became a focal point in the way immigrants steered their lives. This goal of achieving their vision of the American Dream varies from person to person as not every Dream is exactly similar, however, falls under the umbrella of the American Dream which is based on the same basic principles of freedom and the pursuit of happiness.
The American Dream does consist of fundamental components that can make each individual’s Dream similar to one another. Qualities of the Dream include freeness to pursue achievements, the safety of economic security in materialistic possessions, and optimism within one’s own life that “the pursuit of happiness” is attainable. These components are the main focuses within the stories presented of the American Dream. Despite the multitude of backgrounds in America, individuals from different social classes, races, and genders develop a similar understanding of what the American Dream can possibly mean for them.
