The Evolution of Just Good Cupcakes
I have a hobby, I make cupcakes. It's a delicious creative outlet. It started because I was planning Wyatt's 3rd birthday party and I was getting pricing on cakes. Cakes are ridiculously expensive. Even the cookie cake at the mall is insane, in my opinion, and it's just a big cookie with frosting. So I decided I would make cupcakes. Cupcakes are party friendly. No cutting or plates required. And they must be easier to decorate than a cake, right?
I already had 2 pans, how hard could it be? I ordered a cake decorating kit from Amazon.com (my favorite place in the world). It was crap but it was cheap and I didn't know what I was getting myself into at the time.
I wanted to make delicious cupcakes! And not the same old chocolate and vanilla.
Wyatt's favorite cookie was Oreo so I decided to incorporate that into a cupcake.
Wyatt's favorite fruit was banana, so how about a banana cream cupcake?
And when I was browsing cupcake recipes I saw one for salted caramel that sounded amazing so I made some of those too.
In total I made 72 cupcakes. The party was only about 40 people 😳😂😂 (but we only had 4 leftover!)
Wyatt had a blast at his party and everyone loved the cupcakes. A couple people suggested that I start a business, they said that they'd pay money for my cupcakes! I like money and I had just recently become a stay at home mom so I let that idea marinate a little in my brain.
A couple weeks later I started a Facebook page, JustGoodCupcakes.
I pride myself on the fact that they taste really good! Too often cake or cupcakes look amazing but lack in taste. My cupcakes may not be pretty, but they taste really good!
I sent an invite to all my friends and started promotions. I'd play games where people could win a dozen free cupcakes if they liked and shared my page. It was awesome!
With every batch of cupcakes I got better. I learned tricks to make it easier. I messed up, a lot. I threw many cupcakes in the garbage! I ate way too many!
Here are some pictures. You can really tell that my skill is improving as you get further down the page.
