Kerosene Heater in My Garage

in #blog5 years ago

It is cold and wet outside today but my garage is nice and warm. Sometime in the spring, I bought a kerosene heater from the thrift store for around $25.00. It was in excellent shape and upon initial examination, it looked like it just needed a replacement wick. I stored it away until I needed it and pulled it out today because I wanted to work on my pottery in my garage.

The good thing about this kersene heater is that it heats around 900 square feet. I remember last year when my friend's central heat went out in her house and she used a heater like this one until her unit was repaired. This heater sells for around $119.00 brand new. I watched a couple of Youtube videos on how to replace the wick and then I found one where a man was lighting his heater. After watching the video, I realized that my heater had a wick and some kerosene in it.

I lit my heater and it came on without a snag. This heater will be very economical for me because it will be cheaper to operate than an electric space heater in my garage. Kerosene is sold at the local gas station and it is also sold at Walmart and Home Depot for less than $10 a gallon. I love it when I find a bargain that turns out to be something useful and not just a luxury item. I have a feeling that I will be getting a lot of use out of this heater this winter season.

Enjoy your day.
