[WORK] #3 Fleetboard, GPS tool to track your fleet
Today I want to show you capabilities of contemporary GPS system for tracking vehicles. I am working by few systems but because we have only Mercedeses that we are using Fleetboard. This program is dedicated to Mercedes.
When we start program we will see this
From left:
- fuel consumption
- evaluation of the best and the worst drivers
- messages from application
- upcoming vehicles inspection
Ok, let's go to the most interesting thing - mapping.
By marking one of the vehicle we can see exact route. Max one month. Recently position of truck is refreshed in every ten minutes but we can change this for even ten seconds which is helpfull inf adress searching ;)
Next we have traffic monitoring. Red and yellow routes mean traffic jams. Black means blocked routes. Unfortunately black colour mostly means deadly accidents...
Traffic near Paris is pretty good. Unfortunately screen was made on Saturday. You have to belive me that in the week most routes are in red.
We can also turn on informations about height of the briges, permission of total vehicle weight etc.
Also We can se informations about road repairs and route accidents.
At the end speed of vehicle, position, ignition, mileage.
This isn't end of surprises from Mercedes because company give us detailed analysis of vehicle usage and special rating driver system. Application gives drivers grades. Grades are based by driving style, fuel consumption, amount of sudden braking etc. Quantity of informations can make impression.
On this basis you can make analisys but in my company it helps only with rewarding drivers for economic driving.
Watching at technical condition is more easier.
Watching at driver time slots are also more easier. Here you can see perfect driver pause. Almost 9 hours.
Summarizing now you know why shippers are not liked by drivers. As you see I can check a lot of informations and I show you maybe 20% capabilities of this application. Of course many functions are unused. There are no time for fun when you have 10 drivers to manage.
When this technology appear lot of drivers was confused about this spy tool. But transport has changed. Most of transport loads are time critical so every single minute counts.
I know that every stick has two ends. From the driver's perspective working at every day for 13 or 15 hours with small amount of breakes is tiring and frustruating. Every single unplanned stop mean one thing - phone from dispo ;)
