Remodel Progress at the Library at Last!
The new carpet is in place around our new office space. There are just a few more shelves to set up in there tomorrow, and then it's a matter of fine-tuning things as we settle in. I was able to move our circulation desk back where it belongs, and I undid all the jury-rigged temporary network wiring from yesterday's misadventures with no ill effects. Everything even worked right the first time when I powered up the computers for the day! It finally feels like the job is done.
It's a good thing, too, because I need the new office space to run our district's 3D printer. We have a machine that rotates between the small libraries so those outside the two largest can have a chance to see it firsthand. STEM & STEAM are big buzzwords in the education biz, so we use it to promote science, technology, engineering, art, and math.
A picture of a floor. EXCITING! Well, it is for us, anyway. I understand if you aren't as ecstatic about it as we are. This is the last bit of contractor cleanup before we moved everything back where it belonged, so it's a notable milestone for us.
How nice to have that all done! I hope the new arrangement proves to be entirely satisfactory.
Some of our patrons love it. Some hate it. In general. I think the change is for the better since we have better visibility throughout the building, but the administrators should have been more open to the suggestions from those of us who actually work here.
