God- the answer to all unknowable things

As a child my idea of God was that of an old white bearded man wearing a toga living "up there" somewhere, knowing everything and looking down on all of us and judging everyone. I never believed this idea to be real and still don't. This idea of an all knowing, all seeing creator that has an opinion I find too simplistic but understand that it provides all the answers to all the not knowable questions. My favourite answer to things that don't make any sense is " God works in misterious ways".
It is the human condition to not be comfortable with not knowing so any answer is better than no answer. The true nature of reality can start to reveal itself when we can reside, comfortably, in a state of not knowing. That is when all becomes possible, (even the idea of a bearded old man in the clouds who runs the whole universe as he sees fit).
