The fellowship of the Ring - Hildebrandt brothers Tolkien calendar, my stories about illustrators:)
Today I continue telling the story about the Hildebrandt brothers Tolkien calendar, and today we'll have a look on the middle illustration, big one, where the whole fellowship is depicted:
OK, once again here we (me and these illustrators) have a bit different thought about how characteds must look. Personaly I can't imagine Legolas wearing tights, especially white ones. But whatever:)
As on most of the previous drawing references the contumes were crafted from bathrobes, towels and pillowcases. For all the heroes was posing Tim Hildebrandt, while for the hobbits his poses were combined with Greg Hildebrandt Junior face.
At the very beginning the sketchdrawing looked like this below, but then the artists decided to vidern it, and create a more epic composition:
The center of the composition is a huge oak. It was some kind of a tribute to Tolkien's love to trees. In addition, Tim always loved to depict trees, especially old ones:
The main figures are Gandalf and Frodo, and the closer other characters are to them - the more important they're in the book.
Thank you for watching:)
Love, Inber
This is a very exciting story!
