Art of Bioshock - artbook review - Elizabeth

Introduction

It the first review that was a week ago I describet the artbook in general, and shared a few pages with environment concept art. In this second one we'll stop only on one character - Elizabeth.

Elizabeth

Elizabeth is a constant companion of the game's protagonist, so her appearance is one of the most elaborated. The artbook includes numerous variations of her outfit, whish were used in the game or just stayed concept art. Steampunky style of the game gives the keynote of how the girl must dress, and at the same time leaves open space for numerous versions of it (see the illustration above).

Finally the most common look came out with the white blouse and blue skits, such a 'sailor style':

Ma favorite part in any artbook - preparatory sketches. That's an exploration part of the concept. How old is she? What hair style she has? What's her characteristics of character?

And one more part that is also really important for any charcter for future animation. How expresses emotions? 

Usually animators use a special trick. They have a mirror on the table where they work, to look what changes in their own face when they reflect emotions on it:)

And one illustration for the dessert. Finally the developers managed to create a really dynamic, awesome character:
