How to save a flooded car
In light of all the current flooding around the world, I bring you some simple steps to get a flooded car going again.
Don't try to start the car until you have done these things.
- Check the oil dip stick. If it appears way too full, that means water got into the oil and the oil and filter need to be changed.
- Check the transmission fluid. Same thing as the oil.
- Check the air filter. If it is soaking wet, there is likely water in the engine. Remove all of the spark plugs and turn the engine over a few times to push out the water.
- Put the plugs back and see if she starts.
Note to self - don't buy a used car in Houston anytime soon...............
But if you are looking for a shell to build a race car, Houston is going to be a goldmine.
I'd be sketched out trying to buy a car without a salvage title though. You just know some scumbag is going to be selling those salvaged cars as undamaged.
