Today the girlfriend and I went to the Southern tip of Canada.
Yes, the very most Southern part in all of the whole of Canada.

It's a National Park in Southwestern Ontario called
Point Pelee. It's a sizable 15km² of Forest, Beach,
and Marshland. And it's gorgeous.

I remember it as a child. The tip was magnificent, stretching out
for 150 feet into Lake Erie. Today it's a bit worn back compared to
the way it looks on the net.

Here are some of the pictures I took while we were there today.

Canoeing

We've left the dock and have headed into the canoeing path.

This is my first time in a canoe by the way. Seriously.

We figured out steering pretty quickly. Although we
did end up in the reeds a few times at first. Hahaha.

They said when we reach this flag that it's time to turn around.

But it opens up into this...

We spent some time there, turned around and headed back.

There was an oncoming wind, so going back was trying...

The Marshland Boardwalk

So we decide to walk the marshland boardwalk, a kilometer or more of
floating wooden walk-way in the marsh, that winds around counter
clock-wise and come back near where it starts.
Right away there's another Red-wing Black Bird, so I take a picture.

On the final stretch... muscles are getting sore.
Remember, first time canoeing here, lol.

Late afternoon Sun. Pretty. Breezy day.

Now here's the funny part. My girlfriend went to grab a willow
from the marsh and fell in. Luckily for her, it was shallow due to
reeds and mud along that portion of the boardwalk so she only
got wet up to her knees. We sat at a bench for 20 minutes to
let her shoes and socks dry and I caught this picture of a wasp
entering it's home within one of the 2x4's in the bench. Due to
the sahde the wasp is only silhouetted.

At the end of the walk there were some baby birds in a nest up
high.

Now, we journey to the TIP.

But wait, before that we visited the beach. Many beaches
litter the way to the tip. Although it looks pretty, the beach water
was littered with dead fish-flies, something I only found out after
minutes of being in it. Yayyyy...... No.

The Tip

We took a shuttle-bus to the tip, instead of walking this time.
They come every 15 minutes.

The point, 2 months ago, used to go about 20 feet past these rocks.
The wind today was crazy. The waves were crashing the water onto
rocks.

Lots of people were there with us.

This is the Southern Point of Canada.




So we headed back... the waves were crashing up onto the rocks
like crazy, spraying walkers-by with mist. It was funny to watch.
Less funny when it happened to you. Indeed.



On the way back we seen some birds by the drop off
centre.
