जेल का ख्याल आते ही जली हुई रोटी, पुलिस की पिटाई, कालकोठरी जैसा कमरा और चारों तरफ लंबी-लंबी दीवारें जेहन में उतरती हैं। एक भयावह जगह की तस्वीर आखों के सामने उभरती है। मगर भारत में एक अनोखी जेल ऐसी है जहां कैदी बड़े मजे से सजा काट रहे हैं।

As soon as the prison comes, the burnt roti, beating the police, the dungeon room and long-walled walls all fall down. The picture of a terrible place emerges in front of the eyes. But there is a unique jail in India where prisoners are being punished with great pleasure.

मध्य प्रदेश के इंदौर में एक खुली जेल है जहां कैदियों को अलग अपार्टमेंट मिले हैं। 'इंडियन एक्सप्रेस' की रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक हर अपार्टमेंट में दो कमरे हैं। यही नहीं वे यहां अपनी पत्नी और बच्चों के साथ रहते हैं। और तो और उन्हें जेल के बाहर जाकर घूमने-फिरने और काम करने की भी आजादी मिली है।

There is an open jail in Indore, Madhya Pradesh where prisoners have got separate apartments. According to the report of 'Indian Express', there are two rooms in each apartment. Not only that, they live here with their wives and children. And then he got freedom to go out and walk and go to work outside the prison.

इस जेल का नाम अहिल्या बाई ओपन कॉलोनी है। जेल की सुपरिटेंडेंट अदिती चतुर्वेदी ने कहा, 'वर्तमान में जेल में दस कैदी अपने परिवार के साथ रह रहे हैं। वे सुबह 8 बजे से शाम 6 बजे तक बाहर जा सकते हैं और काम कर सकते हैं।' भारत में वैसे तो कई खुली जेल है, मगर यह पहली जेल है जहां कैदियों को ना सिर्फ बाहर आने जाने की अनुमति है बल्कि परिवार के साथ रहने की भी सुविधा दी जा रही है।

The name of this prison is Ahilya Bai Open Colony. Prison's suprintendent Aditi Chaturvedi said, "Currently, ten prisoners are living with their family in jail. They can go out from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and work out. ' In India, there are many open jails, but this is the first jail where the prisoners are allowed not only to come out but also to stay with the family.

जेल में रह रहे भूपेंद्र सिंह खून करने के अपराध में पिछले 12 सालों से सलाखों के पीछे हैं। इस दौरान उन्हें कई अलग-अलग जेलों में रखा गया। मगर इंदौर की इस खुली जेल में शिफ्ट होने के बाद उनकी जिंदगी बदल गई। उन्होंने कहा, 'मुझे ऐसा लग रहा है कि मैं जेल से रिहा हो गया हूं। जिंदगी सामान्य हो गई है। मैं चाय का ठेला लगाउंगा और पैसे कमाउंगा।'

Bhupendra Singh, who lives in jail, has been behind bars since last 12 years in the crime of bloodshed. During this he was kept in many different prisons. But after Indore shifted to this open jail, his life changed. He said, 'I feel like I have been released from jail. Life has become normal. I'll bet on tea and earn money.

अहिल्या बाई ओपन कॉलोनी में रहने का मौका सिर्फ चुनिंदा कैदियों को ही मिलता है। जिन कैदियों को उम्रकैद की सजा मिली हो, मगर अच्छे व्यवहार की वजह से उनकी सजा कम कर दी गई हो और वे दो-तीन साल में रिहा होने वाले हैं, उन्हें यहां शिफ्ट किया जाता है। अपराधियों को बेहतर नागरिक बनाने के उद्देश्य से इसकी शुरुआत की गई है।

Only the selected prisoners get the chance to live in the Ahilya Bai Open Colony. The prisoners who have been given life imprisonment, but because of good behavior, their punishment has been reduced and they are about to be released in two to three years, they are shifted here. It has been started with the aim of making criminals better citizens.
