PREMARITAL SEX: THE CONTROVERSIAL CLASS ASSIGNMENT

Hello dear friends, this is @hermannsol and today i will be sharing my thoughts and standpoint on an assignment our lecturer gave us for a class discussion. It was Premarital sex is bad. Discuss. It was quite a controversial statement and right there, some students openly started to voice out their objections and opinions and one got to hear funny answers and view points; So here is my view point on the issue.

Premarital sex which is engaging in sex prior to marriage can be associated with undesirable consequences on they parties involved. Some of which can range from years to life long consequences, that will hunt they parties involved. So it is vital for parents to educate their children on the effects of premarital sex and all that they need to know when it comes to premarital sex. The following points to follow will guide us on making that decision on premarital sex.

1.It is a sin before God

To begin with, sex was a beautiful thing that was instituted by God for married couples only to strengthen their union and bonding.People that have committed themselves to each other for life. It was not meant for unmarried people who are only out for fun. So, premarital sex is a sin before God and it is morally wrong. So when one engages in premarital sex, you are disobeying God's command and guilty of fornication. This has consequences like falling out of favour with God,losing your eternity, losing blessings, alteration of your destiny etc. All these for what?
A few minutes of pleasure.

2.The golden rule theory.
I believe so much in the golden rule theory that states "Do not take something that might one day rightfully belong to another". What does this mean? It simply means if you must engage in sex with anyone, you should belong to each other and that is only acknowledged in marriage. If not, then engaging in premarital sex means you are taking something that is not yours and may one day rightfully belong to another.

3.Contracting diseases.
Also, those who engage in premarital sex rum a high risk of contracting one of the many sexually transmissible diseases like HIV/AIDS, SYPHILIS, GONORRHOEA, CHLAMYDIA etc. We all know how catastrophic and dangerous these diseases are and complications like infertility,poor health and even death that follows infection with these.

4.Unwanted pregnancies and abortions.

Premarital sex can also lead to unwanted pregnancies which is the number one cause of abortions in the youths all over the world today. Many people especially young teenagers who engage in premarital sex end up with unwanted pregnancies and because they are financially,emotionally and psychologically not prepared/capable to take care of the baby, they go in for abortions killing innocent children and if that's all, a good number of such people end up losing their own lives in the process or become infertile for life due to uterine complications resulting from their history of abortion.

5.Your purity is lost.

The most important thing to any person especially a woman is her purity. It is her dignity and pride. Your purity as a woman is the best gift you could give your husband. If there is one thing you can offer him that will make him cherish and reapect you so much; it is your purity. Engaging in premarital sex leads you too losing this very important value to the wrong person and that even worsens the feelings of regret. That is such a special moment when you offer your pure, undefiled body to your spouse and living everyday thinking you shared that moment with the wrong person is a terrible feeling and knowing you will never get it back. Your pride,dignity and virtue gone.

6.Deterioration of development in the young
Also, premarital sex in the young arrests their psychological, social and academic development. Studies have shown that when young people engage in premarital sex, their academic and relationships with family and friends deteriorates. This is because adolescents are too immature to handle the explosive sex pleasure and it tends to dominate their lives.

Some of my mates argued against these points and they said premarital sex had a lot to offer too. They went ahead to illustrate that premarital sex helps you to know your partner sexually. In a relationship, one has to know everything about his/her partner including his/her sexual habits. Many marriages have broken down because of sexual incompatibilities in the couples they said.
Some also said that sex is the only way to show or prove your love for your partner.
I found these two points quite questionable and faulty because all the above issues can be resolved amongst couples if they really love each other and want their relationship to work.

Notwithstanding, premarital sex has very little to offer or benefit anyone in a relationship. As they say "true love waits". If he/she loves you then he/she will wait until marriage. Also, on an advantage/disadvantage scale; the disadvantages outweigh the advantages/benefits of premarital sex.
So, i think premarital sex is bad.
