5 Rarely Used Tagalog Words

in #blog7 years ago

With the millenials creating new words these days, rare and deep Filipino words take the back seat farther than ever. But don't totally forget the older Filipino words as you get caught up or too comfortable using the newly created millenial words, chances are you'll encounter some of these deep Tagalog words specially when watching Philippine news.

I've been wanting for weeks now to do this little list here on Steemit of older Filipino words that are still pretty much used these days, so let's dive right into it.

Prayer

First on the list is panalangin. Although another word is colloquially used than this one, it is still pretty much heard being used amongst Filipinos. A word that means prayer that although most prefer using the synonymous word dasal which is usually used, chance is that you'll still encounter this one as well.

Invitation

An older Filipino word which means invitation. Another word that is worth learning as this might pop up during conversations specially party and celebration talks. Paanyaya is another Filipino word that means invitation, only that its synonym imbitasyon which is a borrowed Spanish word is usually used.

Lady

A rarely used word that means lady. Still worth knowing just in case. The commonly used word is dalaga but if someone who loves speaking or using deep Tagalog words prefers using it, then you know what the word means.

Said

A Filipino word rarely used. Tinuran is in the past tense - said. Use it if you want a little bit of rarely used Tagalog words on your side than the commonly used word sinabi.

Example
Iyan ang kanyang tinuran.
That's what she said.

Visitor/Guest

Your deep Filipino word to use to mean visitor or guest if you want to be a little bit original than using the borrowed Spanish word bisita which is the colloquially used word to mean visitor.

And that's about that. A quick little list of rarely used deep Filipino words to warm you up. More of this in another article I've written on Hubpages which you can read here - Deep Tagalog Words
