Flag of Paraguay!
The Flag of Paraguay was adopted on November 25, 1842, the Extraordinary Congress, under the consular presidency of Mariano Alonso and Carlos Antonio López, determined, the exclusive use of the red tricolor flag, in pursuit of justice, white, as a desire for peace, and blue, in homage to freedom, so hard won. These colors are the same as those that identified the Paraguayan heroes who fought in the defense of Buenos Aires during the English invasions. National shields were added.
It is the only flag in which its obverse and reverse are different, grouping a set of symbols of great patriotic significance. In the first, there is the Hacienda Shield, circular in shape with a lion, symbol of courage and strength, a Phrygian cap, representing freedom, which crosses it and above both on a red background, is read in Golden letters "Peace and justice". On the other side, you can see the coat of arms of the Republic, composed of three concentric circles. The middle one has a yellow May star, in memory of the month of independence, which rests on a blue-sky background, embraced by a palm branch and an olive branch, on a white background. Surrounding both symbols the words Republic of Paraguay on a red frame and with yellow letters, are surrounded by a thin white circle. The day of the Paraguayan flag was instituted the 14 of August.
Have to admit I'm a flag nerd, so I enjoy learning about this. Nice post.
