A Small Update
Hello all,
I know I've been relatively absent since the birth of my second child, first girl, but life has been busy with late nights and early mornings. For whatever reason it seemed like Olivia flipped when we got her home from the hospital and was sleeping all day and up all night.
Then she started turning yellow due to high bilirubin count so we were taking her once every other day for blood tests. Luckily we didnt have to put her under the lights, but always stressful to see your baby girl poked so much, regardless.

On the first or second checkup for her bilirubin we received a phone call saying she may have hypothyroidism. After a trip to Indianapolis and one ultrasound later, it was confirmed that her thyroid is small and located higher than normal.
This means she will have to take an artificial thyroid supplement for the rest of her life. Our doctor reassured us that of all the lifelong ailments to be born with this is by far the "best one". If she takes the pill like she is suppose to (once daily) for the rest of her life she will live a completely normal life. For this, I am thankful, but as a parent you always want your kid to be completely healthy.
I am thankful that it wasn't something worse. Going to the children's hospital and seeing some of the other patients made me realize how lucky my wife and I are with two beautiful and healthy kids. For this I will always be thankful.
Thank you for your continued support of SteemSilverGold
Aww that is rough. Glad it is something that can at least be managed and most importantly something you cough on to found the required help. Perhaps one day within her lifetime that can be something that a better solution is found for dealing with.
Stay safe and I hope you get some sleep!
Thanks man! I hope so as well. Love the new avatar and thanks for always stopping by and being so supportive.
Some things happen to us and we can't help but ask.. "is this where life ends?". But yet again you look back and see closely other people who would have easily choose your condition if they had an option to pick. So for that we always have to be thankful for whatever life throws at us. I understand how it feels as a parent but for now I'd urge you to look as to why this happened so atleast you can prevent it forth coming... You don't need to be in this state of mind anytime your wife makes a delivery or gets pregnant. Stay strong my friend, it's well!!
Congratulations and very nice to meet you. Your kids are adorable! Glad you caught it quick.
