Am I missing something here?

in #blog8 years ago (edited)

A week now I have been consistently posting, commenting, resteeming, and even added a small amount of Steem to my account. My content isn't exactly popular, but people are reading it, and commenting, even resteeming. So why is my account worth like 3 dollars? Am I doing something wrong? Is my content no good? The amount of work, and thought I am putting into this is quite extensive when you compare it to memes that people are getting paid significantly for. It's kind of daunting. Luckily (for myself)the money is secondary in my efforts. It would be nice though to make a little extra money since I'm spending hoards of time on here. Any thoughts?

I think it is easy to see the most popular and rewarded posts, but there is a lot of missed good content. I would just keep doig it for you and it will work itself out, or maybe not, who knows. But post for you Hang in there!

I'm wondering the same thing. Interesting post and I would love to see what people will say. Following you.

Thank you. Following back.

welcome to steemit @futuremind, best regards..
hopefully you feel at home here. 😊

Thank you :)

I'm not sure why it is either. I have noticed that a lot of people use resteeming bots to boost their posts, but I followed one of those bots and it just filled my feed with pages and pages of noise.

Personally I'm not one of those follow me and I'll follow back types, mainly because you're guaranteeing that the majority of people who follow you aren't going to be interested in the content. It's a quanity vs quality game to me, and I prefer quality, so I'm being picky about who I follow.

But like everything, it takes hard work and perseverance. People who are "overnight successes" have been often battling away at their craft for months or years before they are "discovered."

Thank you for this extensive reply. If you look at my blog, you will see that I look for followers in general without targeting a specific audience. Perhaps I'm making a major mistake. I do believe these auto resteem bots are a problem. They are ruining this platform by exploiting one of its essential components. This is sad to me, but perhaps development is looking at this. I sure hope so. Perhaps I should be a little more thorough with my following, and followers alike. I'm still learning the intricacies here, and it seems I'm failing at grasping in correctly.

I don't think you're making a major mistake, it's just a different approach. Go with your gut but keep at it. It might also be that because Steemit is a relatively niche platform, it's not really full of a wide range of people like something like Reddit.

It may get there, but I think most people are here mainly to talk about cryptocurrency. Topics outside of that will receive less attention and may take a while to build up those audiences. The users on here that I've seen who are quite large are people who post news or tutorials about crypto. Some are Youtubers who have large followings, etc, but I think they're all sharing their Steemit blog posts on other social media too.

Keep at it and good luck.

I will keep at it, and now that I have had a chance to consider the implications of my content, I think I am going to keep my page primarily dedicated to writing, and spend my time commenting on trending blogs to attract the attention of other bloggers. This is my first attempt at blogging, and I came into this with a preconceived notion that this was a huge blogging spot, but your're correct. The high paying trending content here is primarily crypto related, and this isn't a bad thing, but when you see quality work go unrecognized, its a little disheartening. I did look at some numbers. If the last report I saw was up to date, there is less than a quarter million users on Steemit. If there is a surge in the amount of users coming here (especially non crypto related users), I do believe those of us who put in the work, and stuck with it will see our hard work pay off.
