RE: All in the name of safetyness! Part 3
How much would their insurance cost if they didn't require the plastic bags and their employees got scabies all the time?
I have had a lot of luck getting rid of crap with letgo and craigslist. Old broken garbage disposals, a bunch of smashed vinyl fencing. Try to give it away for free but if there are not takers then a small fee will entice someone to show up with a truck or van to haul away anything. A lot of times though despite it being annoying to deal with them the municipal bulk waste collection is actually a good deal compared to other private waste disposal options.
The private companies are hampered by the regulatory system designed to benefit the monopolized services, so it's no surprise that they aren't always the preferable option. I went the municipal route to start because I figured that I would to try to get some of my tax money's worth before I move. Next time I will consider differently.
