On Christmas Eve, I jumped head first into a new micro business venture, which will likely consume much of my time and my focus over the coming months, if not years. Since this is what is at the front of my mind, I thought I would take the time to share my journey with you here on Steemit.

In search of passive income

I've known about the concept of passive income for a few years now. In that time I've pretty much figured out that most so-called passive income streams are not passive at all. The one truly passive source seems to be investments, but right now, that's not for me.

When I learned about the business idea I chose to pursue, I knew that it would never be completely passive. I also knew that it wasn't a get rich quick scheme. It requires a lot of work to do well at, but it is entirely possible to do well at it and with the right tools, it can be passive at times.

Flexibility and earning in my sleep

I've been fascinated for years by the stories of people waking up in the morning and seeing that they've earned x amount while they slept. One of the reasons this is so appealing to me is that my health isn't always the best. I'm working on improving it, but right now having a micro business that can take care of itself for a week or a month seems very appealing.

The business

By now, you're probably wondering what I got myself into. The answer is Pinterest affiliate marketing.

It was actually a blog post by Christina Root that convinced me to give it a try. Christina is so clear that this is not a get rich quick option. It took her a while to get to a real income, but now, 18 months in she makes hundreds every month.

My plan

I have a dedicated plan for how I want to develop my Pinterest affiliate marketing business over the next 90 days. besides that, I've decided to share my journey with you in real time (okay, maybe with a week's delay or so, but that still counts, right?!).
I will be very transparent about what I do and what I make. I have no idea if this will work out for me, but I'll give it a decent shot and we can find out together if this is a viable micro business.
