CHILD ABUSE
Welcome to my blog! I've got something important to share with you.
While growing up,I remember parents especially mothers dropping their children/wards with neighbours or friends when they wanted to go out and do not want to be disturbed by their children/wards. Such neighbours/friends would take adequate care of these children, feed them and bathe them if need be. The parents of the child would return full of gratitude, pick their children and then head home. There was a high level of morality and trust in those days.
I for one, cherished these memories and hoped to continue in this vein, where I can be attending to duties and still know that my child is in safe hands but hell no! In this time when some children are not even safe with their parents? In this time when pedophiles are almost at every corner. Girls being raped by uncles, cousins, brothers, teachers and even their fathers. Boys being molested by seniors in school, by teachers who are supposed to be nurturing them in love.
Child abuse is molesting a child either physically, sexually or otherwise. Everyday, we hear heartbreaking stories of children being molested and people just shrug it off, as if it is a normal phenomenon. Children have to be protected from abuse in a society where the people supposed to protect them are the ones abusing them. Though not every one is guilty of abusing a child but while we are trying to know the bad eggs within us here are some suggestions I think you may find helpful in creating a harm-free environment for your children and children around you.
Here are some suggestions on how to keep your child/ward away from abuse.
- First, you have to teach your child sex education. Let them be aware of their sexuality and know that some persons may be out to exploit them.
- Teach them to speak up when they are not comfortable with a situation or act.
- Be close to your children, make them your friends so they can feel free to tell you their experiences and innermost thoughts.
- Trust your children and don't force them to be too close to certain family members or friends.
- Watch out for signs of distress or uneasiness in your children.
- Never count anyone out when advising your children as they can be abused at their most vulnerable moment.
Some children are constantly abused by people who claim to be friends and family members of their parents everyday. In a society where the law is being manipulated and justice is hard to find, Say No to Child Abuse. Protect the innocence of children.
This is what I have to say about child abuse and I will update when I get more suggestions.
I hope you found this article helpful.
