Yemeni War Tells a Disturbing Truth

Yemen is right in the middle of what is termed the worst humanitarian disaster In recent history due to war. It is now at the risk of a massive famine that is seen as the worst to hit anywhere in over a century. As the death toll keeps piling up, there remains an uneasy silence from the international community.

The main proponents of the carnage has been the Saudi led coalition that has bombed civilians and even children in the name of stopping Houthi Rebels. Despite it all, the war has received little attention compared to say a terrorist attack in the West or even fellow wars in the Middle East. All this is largely as a result of the few politics of propaganda that can be pushed in the War.

While Saudi has literally been allowed to commit genocide all the while without being called to book, it finally was reprimanded for the disappearance of Jamal, the Saudi Journalist Turned government Critic who was in a self imposed exile in Turkey. Suddenly the political opportunists have sensed an opportunity and there is a little attention on the issue at Hand now. But how long will it last?

If Trump had not voiced concern over the disappearance of Jamal, there would probably be no spotlight on an issue that has reached critical. Unfortunately, the media sees this as another opportunity to exploit with the Trump bashing agenda than actually throw light on an issue begging for Attention.

It shows the way the current politics of the world Unfortunately works. Everything from our empathy to our willingness to help has been politicized and is being manipulated by the mainstream. The next time someone begins a hypocritical rant about an issue that downplays the credibility of another as a human being, let us remind them how we did nothing when we felt there was nothing to gain.
