How to protect your steemit account from hackers

Dear steemian,i'm writing to you from my personal experience from the hand of hackers,i must confess,it was an unbearable experience i will not like you to experience.

    Who are the hackers?

In simple term,those that try to hijack your account from you without your permision

Why the hackers hacked my account
I can't really say,but from what i have been reading so far about this unpalatable experience,i have come to realised that they do it to do either of the following

    They want to steal your money.

This is the main reason why your account got hacked. They do it to steal your hard earn sbd and steem. I was lucky enough not to have anything on my account when this happened. I just redeemed my sbd to pay the hospital bill of a lady with swolen leg in my area (i will write about her shortly as suggested by my dear friend @everlove ). I'm happy i did. If not,i don't know what would have happened to my hard earn money. In order not to loose your hard earn money,please be ware.

  They do it to impersonate you

Once they find out that you have good connection with people,they can start to impersonate you by asking those on your contact for all form of assistance without your knowledge. This will be a terrible experience,it can make you to loose those relationship you have so much invested to build. You might loose those contact as a result,or can you explain to them it wasn't you?

They can be posting nonsense on your behalf.

Hackers can go as far as this,they post nonsense on your behalve,those that have interest in reading your blog will loose intetest as a result,and you know what this can cause you,so beware.

To steal your account outrightly

The hackers can go as far as stealing your account from you by mare changing your password. This will make you to loose everything. Then you have to create a new account,i'm sure this is a path no one would want to trend.

     How do i get hacked

Their are differs of ways through which your account can be hacked,but i would mention the popular two

By revealing your password to a third party.

Immediately you log into your steemit account,the first message you got is to protect your account very well because it can't be recovered. So you have to stick to this valuable advice by keeping your password from third party. Save it where only you can access it. If anybody can get your password,they can get your account as well

Beware of online scammers that ask for your password

If you are not sure of what you are registering for or the site you are dealing with,please don't share your password.
We make this simple mistake the most when dealing on bitrex. You can leave the memo section empty to perform your transaction. Imputing your password on the memo would make your account details to be seen by the public. Who knows what those people can do. I'm not saying this to discredit bitrex or any other site that request for your password,but you have to be certain of your security before you share your password. Anybody with your password can access your account any time without notifying you.

How do i overcome been hacked

This is a very tiring experience i wouldn't like anybody to experience. I was their all night reading from different people. I tried every method they suggested,but still not working.
One of the author suggested that it can be recovered back if i register with my email. This statement brought to me a little relieve,so i rushed to my email account to see if i would find a means of reaching out to steemit,but my effort still produced zero result.
I was their all night,i almost cry when the tought of where to start from set in. Though i'm still new here,but what would have happened to the reputation i have built so far. Will i just let go of my beautiful user name @emmakwisequote without a fight. What would time my beautiful friends here on steemit? These and many more are the thought going through my mind.

That was when something from withing just told me to try and log in again.

Wow! Just like magic,i can access my account again. Come and see the excitment in me,i screamed not minding whether i'm disturbing my neighbours.

      First thing first

After i was able to access my acount,the very first thing i did was to change my password. Hmmm,i don't want to experience that again.... Smile

Don't enter my shoe before you learn your lesson.

Dear reader,you don't have to enter my shoe before you know how it pinch. If you have ever shared your password with anybody or other online platform,please generate another one now before they do to you what they did to me.

How to change your password?
Here are the simple steps to take

Click on the three bars beside your profile,
Click on change password
supply your old password in the section where it is rewuired
A new password would be generated and sent to you
Copy this new password and past it in the section where you are asked to confirm your new pasdword
Save your new password where you think it would be saved
Guide your new password with a lot of care. Never share it with anybody again. But if it warrant you must share again,please go ahead to generate a new one after the confirmation of such transaction.

Protect yourself by protecting your password
