The devil is in the details

One day in London I took this photo... Why though?

Is it because I admire William Shakespeare?

Undoubtably William Shakespeare, known as the "Bard of Avon," as well as England's national poet is considered the greatest dramatist of all time and his works are widely known. He wrote plays that capture the complete range of human emotion and conflict, with the tragic love story of "Romeo and Juliet" standing out. However his works span tragedy, comedy, and historical works, both in poetry and prose. Due to the fact that no known autobiographical letters have survived to modern day, Shakespeare is a figure both of magnificent genius and mystery and that is definitely something that arises my curiosity towards his personality and the source of his inspiration.

There are also several quotes of his that I like, such as the following...

"A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool".

"We know what we are, but know not what we may be".

"Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none".

"The empty vessel makes the loudest sound".

"Hell is empty and all the devils are here".

"All that glitters is not gold".

Thus the respect towards his work and him as an innovative writer, could have been a good reason to take this photo... But was that the case? Not exactly...

So was it because of what is written on the manuscript?

"There is no darkness but ignorance." That is so true... Being ignorant of the world around us keeps us in the dark and lost. Opening our eyes to the ways of the world and seeing it for what it is on the other hand, lifts the darkness and everything becomes more clear. We have to seek the knowledge we require and become wise to the path in front of us. Knowledge is power and it is up to us to choose the right path...

That could surely be a good reason for taking this photo.. Wise words that cover the wider picture of our existence. Was that the reason though?

No.

The true reason I took this photo, as shallow as it may sound was this.

The bird sitting on Shakespeare's head. Well played birdie.
