Thyroid function problems

in #blog9 years ago

My sister has been having a rough time of things in recent years with her health. I have another post written regarding her MS, but am just waiting on the results from her next checkup she is getting (this week) before I post it. In the meantime I thought I would write about an issue she had with her thyroid.

During the same time period when my sister was going through neurological tests to confirm her MS diagnosis, she was also being seen by endocrinology.
The reason for this was because she was having issues with her thyroid function. It was fluctuating from very high to too low.

My sister lives in Scotland and had just returned home for a visit to New Zealand. While she was here, it coincided with two different events that I was attending so I booked an extra ticket and took her along with me.

The first event was for Ben Warren who has a health clinic and he tours around talking about the benefits of good food choices and supporting your health with natural supplements. He's a leading holistic nutritionist here in New Zealand.

The next event was with Dr Libby Weaver. She's a Holistic Nutrition Specialist and she spoke along the same lines as Ben Warren had earlier in our week.

My sister took some good advice away from both events and decided to stop taking the contraceptive pill. She had been on the pill for over half of her life. She went on the pill as a teenager and didn't really think much more about it, other than that she wasn't ready to have children so kept having it.

When she returned to Scotland (around 6 weeks later), she went back to endocrinology for further tests. She ended up being discharged from there. Her thyroid function was back to normal.

My sister believes without a doubt that it was the contraception that was causing her thyroid problems. She was taking that same contraceptive every day for almost 20 years. I don't think that drug testing goes for this long of a time frame. How on earth would we know what long term use of these medications are doing to our bodies.

She hasn't looked back since stopping taking it and is not going to go back on it.

My sister believes she was able to fix her thyroid function by removing a manufactured hormone that she was putting into her body each day. She believes that the long term use of the pill caused her thyroid problems over time.

As mentioned earlier, I have another post that's just waiting for the results of her next checkup before I put it up. This is about how my sister is managing her MS through more natural methods instead of using medication.

Sort:

I'm not surprised that the pill contributed to your sister's thyroid issues, but I am surprised that coming off it rebalanced things so quickly. Yay!

I'll be interested to see what she's doing for the MS. Beyond real food, avoiding toxins, and balancing energy, I wouldn't have a lot of ideas.

Might be interesting info for @kaykunoichi if her diagnosis is MS

Yes, it was good that she fixed her thyroid problems. She didn't need that as a problem on top of the MS. You've pretty much nailed what she does for her MS! She's not taking the offered drugs and going well with a good lifestyle.

It's great to see more people becoming aware of this sort of stuff.

There is an agenda behind all of it: basically, profits, depopulation, and control.

So everything from fluoride in the water supply, to birth control pills, to vaccinations, and pretty much everything in between, is designed to further these objectives.

So it's really good news about your sister, but not all that surprising.

And the sickness industry is only one part of this vast process.

Very true. I think more people are waking up to this now too which is fantastic!

Whew glad that was a relatively simple fix! Hope the good diet etc helps the ms too!

So many interesting things our bodies do. I had taken the pill briefly but it does not agree with me & I can't take it. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease when I was about 10 years old. Most recently I had problems with my pituitary gland not producing much cortisol & ACTH, which led me to see an endocrinologist, who is actually suspecting MS. I have my fingers crossed that it's not. I will follow you as I'm interested in hearing about your sister. Even if I don't have MS, I have become really interested in all of these diseases in the past few months.

That sounds familiar to how my sister reacts to the pill. Unfortunately it took a while longer for her symptoms to show. I have my fingers crossed for your diagnosis too.

Just another proof that Big Pharma doesn't look to CURE people but to create ADDICTS who will throw most of their money away on their legal drugs.
I've been staying off of any kind of "mainstream medication" for several years now and I feel great!
Thanks for sharing @eccentrally :)

So true. It's a good decision to stay away from the mainstream medicine if possible. I'm glad you feel great too! No need for their drugs!
